Welcome to my Home Page.
J A Publishing is the web-site of James Apps cat lover poet, author, amateur photographer and a keen casual hiker.
I have published three books - two as part of a Sci-fi series and one a classic epic poem -see the publications page - they are for sale in hard copy or download.
I have always been interested in Sci-fi preferring the books that do not have stupid aliens, mindless monsters or smack of rocket ships attacking each other. My stories are about people in challenging situations with whom the reader can identify. The problems they face are based on touchy subjects such as cloning, genetic modification, religious and philosophical questions as well as a good old bash at human relations and a bit of blood and guts.
The poem is influenced by the Jabberwocky and lots of other comical ideas - if you can imagine a single legged creature in the dual role of lawyer and sword fighter then you have it.
But for lovers of Sci-fi with tendrils and monsters I have one already in the offing ( as Bertie Wooster would say) with such things in it.
I will be publishing two more books shortly - one about the place I live in - it is a murder mystery - and another Fantasy story with Cats in.
These have yet to be edited but will be put on sale.

James Apps
is also an inveterate cat lover and lives with a black cat named Sophie. Sophie (The elegant and sophisticated or Podge) Pictured Right: Cats feature a lot in my life as from a child I have always had one or two around either as family pets or as part of the neighborhood. I have more to say about them on the page devoted to them and how they have become part of my way of life. Sophie was a gift from a flatmate in NZ after my old cat Toots died and I am truly grateful for such a generous gift. In fact I was so happy with her that when I returned to the UK I brought her with me. |
